چکیده
Recent high-level reports state the population should decrease meat consumption to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, as well improve public health. This calls for new strategies change dietary habits, especially many consumers are reluctant eat less meat. study tests effect of labelling a meat-based ready meal with different levels carbon footprint and healthiness on consumers’ willingness pay (WTP) these attributes. Participants took part in two sequential non-hypothetical discrete choice experiments (DCE). In first experiment, they completed DCE where meals (i.e. beef lasagne) were labelled using dual traffic light system; one healthiness. second participants repeated after told varied because saturated fat content, respectively. The found that willing premium healthier lasagne this did not when given information about content. also lower footprint, but decreased knew contained Information content had unintended consequence discouraging people buy low footprint. provides an important insight policy industry into purchasing decisions at time being encouraged

Developing attributes and levels for a discrete choice experiment on basic health insurance in Iran
Background: Nonmarket stated preferences valuation, especially discrete choice experiments (DCEs), is one of the commonly used techniques in the health sector. The primary purpose of this approach is to help select attributes and attributes-levels that are able to properly describe health care products or services. This study aimed at developing attributes and attributes-levels for basic health...
متن کاملHow Important is Secondary School Duration for Post-school Education Decisions? Evidence from a Natural Experiment
This paper investigates how post-school education decisions are affected by a one-year reduction of secondary school duration with an unchanged curriculum. Until recently, Germany had had a longstanding tradition of 13 years of schooling in preparation for university. During the last decade, however, most states abolished the 13th year. The implementation of the reform in 2003 in the state of S...
متن کاملAddressing Health Workforce Distribution Concerns: A Discrete Choice Experiment to Develop Rural Retention Strategies in Cameroon
Background Nearly every nation in the world faces shortages of health workers in remote areas. Cameroon is no exception to this. The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) is currently considering several rural retention strategies to motivate qualified health personnel to practice in remote rural areas. Methods To better calibrate these mechanisms and to develop evidence-based retention strategies...
متن کاملTaste Trumps Health and Safety: Incorporating Consumer Perceptions into a Discrete Choice Experiment for Meat
Consumers implicitly incorporate their perceptions of products into their decision processes, yet little research has explicitly focused on how those perceptions influence demand for meat. This study incorporates taste, health, and safety perceptions into a discrete choice experiment for meat products at a grocery store. Our results indicate that taste is the most important perception as a 1-un...
متن کاملIs the value of a life or life-year saved context specific? Further evidence from a discrete choice experiment
BACKGROUND A number of recent findings imply that the value of a life saved, life-year (LY) saved or quality-adjusted life year (QALY) saved varies depending on the characteristics of the life, LY or QALY under consideration. Despite these findings, budget allocations continue to be made as if all healthy life-years are equivalent. This continued focus on simple health maximisation is partly at...
